Dr. David Cowan is an author & arts critic, writing on economy, culture and communication. He is currently writing a book on the Scottish Enlightenment, economy and culture.
His latest book is Frank H Knight: Prophet of Freedom(Palgrave Macmillan, 2016), part of the Great Thinkers in Economics series, published April 2016. The book is a study of Frank H. Knight a founder of the Chicago School of Economics, and a thinker deeply engaged with economic ideas in relation to social philosophy and religion.
His previous books Economic Parables (IVP, 2007 & 2009) and Strategic Internal Communication (Kogan Page, 2014 & 2017), have both been published in a second edition; the latter showcases a critical thinking tool for communication he created called The Dialogue Box.
David studied at Glasgow, Oxford and St. Andrews, where he earned his PhD jointly in the School of Divinity and the School of International Relations. He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Dramatists Guild of America.
